- Review estate documents, court orders, Letters Testamentary/Administration and related materials.
- Track deadlines, outstanding documents and next steps for all assigned matters.
- Work closely with the firm’s attorneys and VCF team to ensure estate issues do not unnecessarily delay claims or distributions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate case notes and documentation in the firm’s case management system.
- Serve as a resource to other staff regarding estate procedures and documentation.
- Identify complicated or unusual estate issues and escalate them to the appropriate attorney.
- Assist with maintaining consistent procedures and quality standards within the department.
Qualifications
- Prior paralegal experience involving estates, probate, Surrogate’s Court or trusts and estates strongly preferred.
- Experience independently managing a caseload and communicating directly with clients.
- Strong knowledge of legal documents, court filings and estate administration procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Comfortable working with families regarding sensitive matters involving deceased loved ones.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case-management/CRM systems.
