Paralegal

About the role

The main role is to support the attorneys with the workers' compensation files from intake through trial/settlement/resolution. Responsibilities include maintaining case files and communicating with various parties (opposing counsels; clients; doctors offices, etc). The responsibilities also include drafting pleadings; petitions; objections; forms; letters; and preparing various legal documents at the direction of the attorneys.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client case files
• Communicate with clients; adjuster; opposing counsels; doctors office; and court personnel
• Read and review case files including medical reports to assist with strategy for attorney litigation
• Draft legal documents and forms for attorneys
• Calendar appointments and hearings, including keeping track of important deadlines for the attorneys
• Prepare trial exhibits and assist with additional trial preparation
• Monitor case status and alert attorneys when action is needed
• Use of court systems to efile documents

About you

• Proficiency with the English language is essential (oral and written)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to manage a caseload and stay organized
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Adobe; Google Documents; CRM and communications systems
• Spanish speaker would be ideal, but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
