What they need

Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Manager

We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Manager with a strong understanding of Texas personal injury law to support an attorney and manage cases from intake through resolution.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who has worked directly with personal injury cases, understands the lifecycle of a claim, and can independently keep a substantial caseload organized, moving forward, and properly documented.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of cases while working closely with the attorney.

Responsibilities

You will assist the attorney with the day-to-day management and progression of personal injury matters, including:

  • Manage personal injury cases from initial intake through settlement, litigation, or case closure
  • Conduct new client intakes and maintain regular communication with clients
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation and overall case management
  • Maintain accurate case files, deadlines, calendars, notes, and documentation
  • Obtain and organize medical records, medical bills, accident reports, insurance information, employment records, and other supporting documentation
  • Communicate with medical providers, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, experts, clients, and other parties
  • Monitor clients' medical treatment and maintain updated treatment records
  • Prepare case summaries, chronologies, settlement documentation, and attorney review materials
  • Draft correspondence, letters of representation, preservation letters, records requests, and other legal documents
  • Assist with preparing and assembling settlement demand packages
  • Track insurance coverage, policy limits, claims, liens, subrogation interests, and outstanding balances
  • Assist with lien verification and resolution
  • Calendar and monitor statutes of limitation and other critical deadlines
  • Assist with discovery, pleadings, deposition preparation, and litigation support when cases enter litigation
  • Coordinate scheduling for depositions, mediations, examinations, hearings, and other case-related events
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with clients, providers, insurance companies, and other parties
  • Ensure cases do not become stagnant and proactively identify outstanding items or next steps
  • Provide the attorney with clear, organized case status updates
  • Perform other traditional paralegal and case-management duties as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • Prior experience working as a Personal Injury Paralegal, Personal Injury Case Manager, or similar role
  • Experience managing personal injury cases and client files
  • Working knowledge of Texas personal injury practice and procedures
  • Experience dealing with insurance companies, adjusters, medical providers, and personal injury clients
  • Strong understanding of medical records, billing, treatment documentation, and case damages
  • Experience preparing or assisting with personal injury demand packages
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active cases, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently while keeping the supervising attorney informed

Preferred:

  • Experience with Texas motor vehicle accident cases
  • Experience with premises liability, commercial vehicle/trucking, wrongful death, or other significant injury matters
  • Experience with both pre-litigation and litigation
  • Experience drafting discovery responses and assisting with litigation
  • Experience with medical liens, health insurance liens, Medicare/Medicaid issues, and subrogation
  • Familiarity with personal injury case-management software
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their cases.

A strong candidate does not simply wait for the attorney to tell them what to do next. You should be able to review a file, understand where the case stands, identify what is missing, follow up with the appropriate parties, and keep the matter progressing.

You should be comfortable managing details while also understanding the bigger picture of the case.

Accuracy is extremely important. Missed deadlines, incomplete records, poor documentation, and lack of client communication can materially affect a case. We are looking for someone who treats those responsibilities accordingly.

Ideal Candidate

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have already managed a personal injury caseload
  • Understand how a Texas PI case progresses from intake through settlement or litigation
  • Are exceptionally organized
  • Follow up without needing repeated reminders
  • Communicate professionally with clients and third parties
  • Can identify problems before they become urgent
  • Keep attorneys informed without requiring them to micromanage the file
  • Take pride in maintaining clean, complete, and accurate case files
  • Can handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Experience in personal injury is strongly preferred. Candidates with direct Texas personal injury case-management experience will receive priority consideration.
