What they need

Williams & Connolly LLP, recognized as one of the world's premier litigation firms, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Paralegal II to serve as an important member of the legal team. This is a mid-level position within a tiered department. Our depth of experienced, upper-level paralegals and case managers, as well as our unique single office location, offer the stage to foster close mentoring relationships and chances for growth.

Our paralegals are essential to the case teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a case. By managing key documents, organizing case files, and staying on top of critical deadlines, you give attorneys the ability to focus on their clients - and give yourself the chance to see, firsthand, how your attention to detail and follow-through helps shape outcomes. Successful paralegals are those who bring a service-minded, can-do attitude to every task.

The right candidate will have the opportunity to build a career with well-respected, top professional trial teams. Under the direction of the Chief of Paralegal Services, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing paralegal support to attorneys through all phases of litigation;
  • Managing all case materials, including electronic files and database applications;
  • Coordinating with the firm's e-filing team to obtain materials from, and file materials with, federal and local courts and agencies;
  • Performing factual research;
  • Tracking the course of information and case materials;
  • Coordinating with outside vendors and service providers; and
  • Assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, trials, and arbitrations, and ensuring that logistics, exhibits, filings, and deadlines are proactively managed.
  • BA/BS degree:
  • At least two years of full life cycle litigation experience;
  • Ability to travel during out-of-state trials;
  • Ability to manage litigation cases from initiation through resolution, independently or as part of a team;
  • Experience locating, interpreting, and applying court and/or agency rules;
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and high-quality work standards;
  • Experience multitasking and working under tight deadlines; and
  • Ability to anticipate case needs, handle competing priorities, and adapt to changing conditions.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, Word). Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and litigation support applications such as Relativity, CaseMap, and Case Notebook is preferred. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays.

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following:

  • Prolonged periods using a sit-to-stand desk and working on a computer.
  • Repetitive movements, including typing on a keyboard and using a mouse.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
  • Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

After successfully completing the introductory period, the candidate will be eligible to work the department's approved hybrid schedule.

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $41.02 - $48.71, which equates to $80,000 - $95,000 on an annual basis based when working the standard 1,950-hour annual work schedule. This is a non-exempt position. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications. Williams & Connolly LLP offers competitive compensation and benefits packages.
