What they need
Paraplanner / Senior Paraplanner – Bristol | £42,000–£50,000 | 4.5-day week
Cardens Ltd is a small, FCA regulated IFA. Founded in 1993, we still work with many of the people who originally came to us. We look after individuals, families and business owners who want clear, honest advice and a relationship that lasts.
We are a deliberately small team. Every client knows who they are dealing with, every recommendation gets a human touch, and everyone in the office knows how their work contributes, and makes a meaningful difference to the people and families we work with.
Why we're hiring
The business is growing, and our paraplanning has outgrown the time one of our directors can give it. We're looking for someone experienced and capable, with a strong background in the technical side of the advice process, to help us continue to shape our business.
This isn't a role where you produce reports to a template and pass them on. You'll work with the directors, your judgement will be listened to, and you will have a real say in how our processes develop.
Your role
You'll be the technical engine behind our advice. You will work closely with our advisors and take the case from brief through to finished recommendation. We want someone who wants to grow with us. Some people want a career as the technical expert in the room, and others are more interested in the client facing side. We are happy to help you develop in to either role, and will support you to help you get there.
What you'll work on
- Suitability Reports - Writing clear, compliant, well reasoned reports across investments and pensions that clients can actually understand, consistent with our style.
- Research and analysis - Products, fund and platform comparisons, analysis of existing arrangements, and the technical groundwork that supports a good recommendation.
- Running the workflow - Managing cases through the advice process, keeping on top of deadlines, and working with the team to get the administrative side right.
- Shaping how we work - Bringing ideas about our tools and processes, including the systems we are building, and helping us to improve them.
- Being part of a small team - Supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and contributing when it's needed.
What we're looking for:
- Qualified, or getting there: Level 4 DipPFS (or working towards it, with a demonstrable technical knowledge.)
- Experience you can use from day one: paraplanning experience in UK financial advice, ideally for an IFA, or knowledge and competence that will let you get up and running quickly.
- Technical understanding: A good working knowledge of investments, pensions and the UK financial services landscape.
- Care in your work - Strong report writing, close attention to detail, and pride in getting things right.
- Independence and teamwork - The ability to manage your own case load, and helping to support others when it's required.
- Honesty & Reliability - Hard-working, self motivated and able to raise problems as they come up.
- Willingness to learn - Comfortability with new systems as they come up, and a confidence in learning new ones when required.
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of Intelligent Office and FE Analytics (if you've used similar systems and learn quickly, that's fine too.)
What we offer:
- £42,000-£50,000 depending on experience and qualification.
- 4.5 days per week: full time in our office, but finishing at 12pm on a Friday.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
- Full support with exams, study time and professional development, including the route to chartered status.
- A route in to advice for the right person, if that's where you want to go.
- Private Medical Insurance (optional)
- Income protection (if required)
- A small, friendly, and close team where your input is seen and valued.
To apply:
Send us your CV and a short note about yourself, here, or to [email protected], with what you are looking for next. If you'd like an informal chat before applying, contact [email protected]
