Park Maintenance Worker

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director, the Parks Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks for the City's Parks and Recreation Department. The position assists in the maintenance of parks grounds, including mowing and weed eating, and helps perform minor repairs to City park facilities.

SALARY RANGE

$17.12 / Hour (Minimum) to $24.40 / Hour (Maximum)

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Performs daily internal and external maintenance and minor repairs of City's park facilities.

• Operates tools and equipment to landscape, mow, weed-eat, and trim park grounds, trim trees, and trim bushes in park areas.

• Maintains playground equipment, inspects and repairs playground equipment, and ensures applicable playground areas are properly mulched and safe for use.

• Maintains park related vehicles and equipment.

• Cleans and maintains park facilities, ensures park restrooms and public facilities are in good condition, empties park trash receptacles, and cleans park shelters as needed.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• At least one (1) year of experience in a trade, and/or at least one (1) year of maintenance worker experience.

• High School Education or GED.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• Employee is frequently required to walk and ben, use hands to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

• Employee must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

• Duties may occur during extreme weather and the employee must be able to carry out the assignment during such weather.

Pay: $17.12 - $24.40 per hour
