Job Summary

We are seeking a vibrant Part-Time Activities Assistant to energize and engage our residents through creative programming and social events. This role is vital in fostering a lively, inclusive community where seniors can thrive, socialize, and enjoy meaningful activities. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, compassion, and organizational skills to help build memorable experiences for our residents.

Duties

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities and resident events that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity
• Develop tailored activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-friendly initiatives
• Build strong rapport with residents by engaging in one-on-one interactions and understanding their preferences and histories
• Collaborate with team members to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans and therapeutic goals
• Manage scheduling of activities efficiently using basic Microsoft Office tools to track participation and plan upcoming events
• Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment
• Communicate effectively with residents’ families about upcoming events and resident participation

Skills

• Experience in event planning within senior living or assisted living environments
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory support strategies
• Strong communication skills for engaging with residents, families, and team members
• Ability to develop innovative programs that foster resident engagement and joy
• Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques and long-term care practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for scheduling, documentation, and program development
• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care settings is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to build meaningful rapport with seniors through compassionate caregiving
• Team leadership skills to coordinate volunteer efforts or assist other staff as needed
