Part Time Art Instructor

Abrakadoodle of Central Connecticut is looking for a part-time art instructor for our after-school enrichment programs and/or as a potential substitute teacher for our day-time programs in schools. This is a very part-time flexible schedule that would be ideal for anyone considering work as a teacher or paraprofessional in a public, private or charter school as a career choice. 12 or less students per class (after school-more for subbing). Curriculum provided which is written by a team of educators with a background in art education. Materials purchased and provided by us. We service multiple schools in the central area of the state.

Responsibilities:

• Implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards
• Provide instruction in various mediums including acrylic, clay and collage
• Assess students' progress and provide feedback on their academic performance
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and participation
• Utilize effective teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student development and welfare
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behavior
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and any concerns

Qualifications:

• Experience with teaching of any kind is always prefered but not necessary
• Must be available for on site teacher training provided by Abrakadoodle staff
• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Must be a dependable and reliable employee
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment for students
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
• Strong organizational skills to effectively manage classroom activities and resources

Note: All candidates will be required to pass a background check provided by the Connectiucut State Department of Children & Families.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 12.0 per week
