About Alturas Academy

Alturas Academy is a public charter school network committed to rigorous, inquiry-based learning and student growth. Through small instructional groups and teaching students at their true academic level, we create meaningful opportunities for collaboration, critical thinking, and academic success.

At Alturas, our values of support, collaboration, and community are foundational to everything we do. Paraprofessionals play a vital role in supporting students, teachers, and classrooms by fostering positive relationships, encouraging student growth, and helping create safe, engaging learning environments where every student can thrive. This role works closely with teachers and school staff to provide individualized support, reinforce instruction, and contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on student success.

Position Summary

  • Participate in school meetings or student support meetings when interpreting services are needed.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive presence within the school environment.
  • Log services for medicaid billing.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.

  • Experience interpreting in an elementary school and working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development, educational terminology, IEPs, and special education environments.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, families, and school-based teams.
