Responsibilities

• Safely operate shuttle vehicles on city streets and highways, adhering strictly to traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before each trip to ensure all mechanical systems are functioning properly, including air brakes and other essential safety features.
• Navigate efficiently through city streets and adverse weather conditions to ensure timely arrivals at destinations.
• Maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and state transportation laws governing commercial driving.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and report any vehicle malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
• Foster excellent customer service by engaging positively with athletes ensuring a welcoming experience for all passengers.

NOW HIRING – BASKETBALL TEAM BUS DRIVER

Virginia University of Lynchburg Athletics is looking for a dependable and professional Driver to provide transportation for our college basketball team.

POSITION: Driver – Athletic Transportation

The driver will safely transport student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff to games, practices, tournaments, airports, hotels, and other approved destinations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Valid CDL in the appropriate class. Experience operating passenger buses or comparable commercial vehicles. Clean/acceptable driving record. Must meet University insurance requirements. Must successfully complete background and driving-record checks. Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious. Available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, overnight trips, and holidays. 21+ years old for interstate travel

Previous experience driving for college athletics, sports teams, schools, charter services, or organized groups is preferred. CDL is not necessary but prefered.

COMPENSATION

$17.00/hour – Trips without an overnight stay

$250.00/day – Trips requiring an overnight stay. One hotel room provided for each night Meals provided with the team while driving
