Part-time Cat Adoption Coordinator

Are felines your favorite? Join Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville in their lifesaving efforts as the Cat Adoption Coordinator! MPR AVL is a foster-based animal rescue headquartered in Candler, NC and this position would be responsible for:

• Managing weekly adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart. Must be available 10:30 am-6:00 pm Saturdays, 12pm-3pm on Fridays at the Candler location. Other work from home during the week with flexible scheduling primarily screening adoption applications and preparing for Saturday event (3-4 hours across the remainder of the week as online applications come in).
• Screening and finalizing adoption applications.
• Using own laptop/printer and phone to review applications, prepare crate cards for events and to communicate with other staff, volunteers and adopters.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
• Solid knowledge of spreadsheets.
• Must be able to take initiative and have proficient problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm during difficult situations.
• Basic understanding and knowledge of animal behavior and medical needs. A true love of cats is most helpful.
• Physical requirements may include stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, handling, and the ability to lift to 50 pounds.
• Hearing, vision, and speech is necessary
• Must be free of cat and dog allergies.
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to transport cats between office in Candler and PetSmart in East Asheville.

The work may involve stressful conditions. This position is 12-16 hours per week, with most Sundays and Mondays off. Pay range is $16-$17/hour depending on experience with a raise after 90 days with good performance.
