Part time CDL driver

Job Overview

Looking for a part time CDL driver to drive 36' and 53' trailers within the greater Austin area. We are extra busy during the summer months and could use some help hauling ice from dock to dock or dropping/picking up trailers at different locations around central texas.

Duties

• Safely operate commercial trucks, including manual transmission tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
• Navigate routes using GPS systems to ensure timely delivery of freight across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local delivery areas
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify truck condition, including checking for hazards related to manual handling and truck loading/unloading procedures
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route adjustments, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered during trips
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or flatbed as applicable
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation with a focus on route driving and logistics cargo handling
• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient OTR driving routes
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading and manual handling
• Strong understanding of truck driving best practices including load securement, vehicle inspection procedures, and safety compliance
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating deliveries and ensuring customer satisfaction

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
