Location: Wickham Bishops, EssexPay: £12.71–£16.00 per hour, depending on experienceHours: Part-time, approximately 3 days per week, including weekends

Job Overview

We’re looking for a passionate, reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Chef to join our growing team at The Bear at Wickham Bishops.

The Bear is a family-run village pub and restaurant with a strong focus on freshly prepared food, quality ingredients and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our local community.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their cooking, enjoys being part of a friendly team and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

You’ll be supporting our existing kitchen team, particularly during busy weekends and Sunday lunch services, helping us maintain the high standards our customers expect.

Your Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Supporting our Head Chef and wider kitchen team.
• Helping with preparation, cooking and plating during service.
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Assisting with stock rotation, deliveries and food preparation.
• Working efficiently during busy periods.
• Bringing a positive, flexible and team-focused attitude to the kitchen.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience working as a chef in a pub, restaurant or similar kitchen.
• Confidence preparing and cooking fresh food.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Reliability, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for food.
• Availability to work weekends, including Sundays.
