Part time Class 1 Driver

We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone looking for consistent daytime hours, working 06:00pm to 10:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
• Ensure with Transport Manager and Loader that the load is correct against the customers’ orders.
• Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or Transport Manager.
• Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and contact Transport Manager for assistance if required.
• Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.
• Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits.
• Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.
• Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum.
• Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
• Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet and give to Transport Manager.
• Attend essential training to carry out the driver role.
• To provide support in the Yard as required by the Transport Manager.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Class 1 Licence: Drivers are required to hold Class 1 licence, Driver qualification card and Tacho card. A full CPC is also needed.
• IT proficiency: competent IT skills and knowledge handheld device usage
• Writing Skills: excellent command of the English language including proof reading and editing skills

Desirable

• Moffett: training and experience in the driving of Moffett’s
• HIAB: training and experience in the use of HIAB’s

• Communication: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, as you will be responsible for communicating with our Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team and Key Stakeholders
• Interpersonal skills: Good interpersonal skills and be able to build relationships across the Board and Senior Leadership Team and any relevant Key Stakeholder.
• Problem-solving and multitasking skills: Good problem-solving skills and be able to identify and address issues that may arise and with the solutions to these. Ability to understand the group of company’s structure and support the Board of Directors across all businesses.
• Time management: Excellent time management skills and be able to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively.
• Organisational skills: Excellent organisational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. A self-starter.
• Decision-making: Ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of our business.
• Adaptability: Able to adapt to changing circumstances and be a good team player through change and challenges. The ability to work under the pressure of a busy, time critical, transport operation is imperative.
• Self-Management: Managing all aspects and tasks of the job role within a clear timeframe.
