About Us:

As Mind Sparks continues to grow and expand, we are looking for dedicated and nurturing individuals to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing brand and contribute meaningfully to the development and well-being of our students.

What You'll Do:

As a Part-Time Coding Teacher, you will conduct engaging and age-appropriate coding lessons for primary school students from Primary 1 to Primary 6. You will help students develop computational thinking, creativity, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills through interactive and hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Engaging Coding Lessons
  • Plan and deliver coding lessons using age-appropriate platforms such as Scratch, block-based coding tools, robotics kits or other beginner-friendly technologies.
  • Guide students through coding concepts step-by-step while encouraging exploration, experimentation and independent thinking.
  • Ensure lessons are interactive, engaging and suitable for students of varying learning abilities.
  1. Build Students’ Computational Thinking Skills
  • Help students develop key coding concepts such as:

    • Sequencing
    • Loops
    • Events
    • Conditions
    • Variables
    • Debugging
    • Pattern recognition
    • Logical thinking
    • Basic problem-solving
  • Guide students in explaining their thought processes and reflecting on their learning experiences.

  1. Facilitate Project-Based Learning
  • Support students in creating simple coding projects such as games, animations, quizzes, interactive stories or basic app-style prototypes.
  • Guide students through the process of planning, testing, improving and presenting their projects.
  • Encourage creativity while helping students understand the importance of persistence and learning through trial and improvement.
  1. Classroom Management
  • Maintain a safe, structured and positive classroom environment for primary school students.
  • Set clear expectations for device usage and classroom behaviour.
  • Ensure students remain focused, respectful and responsible during lessons and activities.
  1. Support Students Across Different Learning Needs
  • Provide additional guidance and support to students who require more assistance.
  • Challenge advanced learners with extension tasks and creative enhancements.
  • Adapt teaching approaches based on students’ age, confidence level and learning pace.
  1. Monitor Progress and Communicate Updates
  • Provide updates to the centre team on students’ participation, progress and learning needs.
  • Highlight students who demonstrate strong interest or aptitude in coding.
  • Support parent communication by providing constructive feedback where required.

7.    Prepare and Maintain Learning Resources

  • Prepare lesson materials, activity instructions, worksheets and project resources where necessary.
  • Ensure laptops, devices, or coding-related materials are properly used, packed, and returned after each lesson.
  • Report any technical issues promptly to the centre team or relevant staff.

8.  Support Mind Sparks’ Learning Philosophy

  • Promote discovery-driven learning, creativity, communication and hands-on exploration.
  • Encourage students to ask questions, collaborate with peers and develop confidence in problem-solving.
  • Foster healthy and purposeful use of technology in the learning environment.

About You:

  • Diploma or Degree in Education, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Multimedia or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching coding, robotics, ICT enrichment or primary school students is an advantage.
  • Candidates without experience with strong coding knowledge and a passion for teaching children are welcome to apply.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Scratch, Code.org, Minecraft Education or robotics kits is beneficial.
  • Patient, encouraging and able to explain coding concepts clearly to children.
  • Confident in managing primary school students in a classroom setting.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting basic technical issues independently.
  • Creative, organised and adaptable in lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Positive, responsible and able to work collaboratively with the centre team.

  • Training: One day per week, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Teaching: Remaining working days, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
