Part-time Drafter

About the role

We are looking for a drafter to take structural and architectural drawings, measure what is actually on them, and report what they included and what they excluded. On repetitive residential buildings, areas measured different ways can significantly impact costs, so accuracy, traceability, and defensibility of measurements are critical.

Key responsibilities

• Quantity and area take-offs from architectural and structural drawings, broken down per floor and per building
• Overlay and comparison sheets showing where one drawing set disagrees with another, or with a bill of quantities
• Clean extract drawings for issue to suppliers
• Occasional presentation plates and perspectives

About you

• Real AutoCAD production experience on building drawings — drawings you personally produced, not a course certificate
• You have produced quantity take-offs yourself, and can show us one
• You read structural drawings, not only architectural plans
• You state your basis and your exclusions without being asked
• Native DWG delivery, worked to our layer and title block, in a clean and organised file
• Your own validly licensed AutoCAD — this is a condition, not a preference
• You commit to a date and you hit it
• A plus: mid-rise or mass housing experience, familiarity with BP 220 and PD 1096 drawing conventions, SketchUp, or having worked to a bill of quantities before
