Looking for a part-time Early Years role where you can make a real difference every day?

At St Francis College Nursery, we're passionate about giving children the very best start in life. We're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and qualified Early Years Practitioner to join our team and help create a welcoming environment where children feel safe, confident and excited to learn.

Based within St Francis College in Letchworth Garden City, our nursery is part of a school community that values high-quality education, individual development and supportive relationships. As part of Inspired Learning Group, you'll benefit from being part of a wider family of independent schools and nurseries, with opportunities for professional development, training and career progression.

We're looking for someone who understands the importance of those early years and wants to help children develop their confidence, independence and curiosity through meaningful experiences, play and exploration.

The hours and contract

This is a permanent, part-time position working six hours per day, 52 weeks per year. We're able to offer either of the following shifts:

  • 7:30am–1:30pm
  • 12:30pm–6:30pm

What you'll be doing

As an Early Years Practitioner, you'll play an important role in providing high-quality care and education, helping every child develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

You'll:

  • Plan and provide engaging, play-based learning experiences that reflect children's individual interests, needs and stages of development.
  • Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel valued and encouraged to explore.
  • Observe, assess and celebrate children's progress, using your knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to support their next steps.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers, working in partnership to support each child's development.
  • Encourage children's communication, independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing through warm, responsive care.
  • Support indoor and outdoor learning experiences that inspire children to explore, discover and develop new skills.
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain high standards of care, education and professionalism.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery and contribute positively to the wider school community.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and children's wellbeing remain at the heart of everything you do.

What we're looking for

Ideally, you'll have:

  • A DfE-approved Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification, or above.
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or Early Years setting.
  • A good understanding of the EYFS, child development and safeguarding.
  • A caring, positive and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build warm, trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • A reliable and flexible approach to working within a busy nursery environment.
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn, grow and reach their potential.

Why join St Francis College Nursery?

At Inspired Learning Group, we believe that supporting our people is essential to providing the best possible experiences for children. You'll join a team where your contribution matters, with opportunities to develop your skills and build your career.

We offer:

  • Salary of up to £30,607 FTE, depending on qualifications and experience, with part-time pay calculated pro rata.
  • A permanent, part-time contract working six hours per day.
