What they need

About the Position

Marcusse Construction is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Interior Designer / Selections Coordinator to guide homeowners through the design and selections process for their new home.

This role combines residential design, client communication, and project coordination. You will help homeowners make thoughtful decisions, document those decisions clearly, and work with our construction team, vendors, and subcontractors to keep selections aligned with project budgets and schedules.

The ideal candidate is creative, organized, personable, and comfortable managing several projects independently. Professional experience in residential interior design, selections coordination, or new-home construction is required.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with homeowners to understand their style, priorities, budget, and design needs.
  • Guide interior and exterior selections, including flooring, cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, paint, siding, and hardware.
  • Review blueprints and electrical layouts with homeowners and the construction team.
  • Assist with cabinet layouts, built-ins, custom trim, and other design details; prepare sketches or visual references when needed.
  • Set up and maintain selection schedules, specifications, pricing records, and client approvals in our project management system.
  • Request and review vendor and subcontractor pricing, and present updated pricing to homeowners for approval.
  • Clearly communicate approved selections, layouts, and design details to the people completing the work.
  • Track outstanding decisions and follow up to keep selections on schedule.
  • Help resolve product availability issues, substitutions, and design questions while considering cost and construction timing.
  • Answer occasional work-related phone calls during reasonable business hours, including outside scheduled in-office hours when needed.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience in residential interior design, selections coordination, or new-home construction.
  • Working knowledge of the new-home construction process and the timing of material selections.
  • Ability to read residential blueprints and understand electrical layouts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to guide homeowners confidently and respectfully.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without constant oversight.
  • A practical approach to problem-solving that balances design, budget, and schedule.
  • Comfort using email, spreadsheets, and project management software.
  • Experience with cabinetry, built-ins, or custom residential details is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Flexible weekday hours.
  • Compensation based on experience.
  • A supportive, collaborative team environment.
  • Meaningful work helping homeowners bring their new homes to life.
  • Opportunities to contribute creative ideas and work directly with an experienced construction team.
