Typical availability: Sunday 1:00–5:00 p.m. and Monday–Thursday 2:00–8:00 p.m.

The Opportunity

Mathnasium is seeking enthusiastic, mathematically strong instructors who enjoy helping students understand math, build confidence, and discover what they are capable of achieving.

This is an excellent opportunity for high school students, college students, graduates, aspiring educators, and other candidates who want meaningful part-time work in a positive learning environment. Mathnasium provides the curriculum, instructional materials, and paid training needed to become a successful instructor.

You do not need previous tutoring or teaching experience. Successful instructors are confident communicators who are reliable, coachable, encouraging, and comfortable working with students in grades K–12.

What You Will Do

  • Teach students using the Mathnasium Method, approved curriculum, and instructional practices.
  • Work with multiple students in an individualized small-group setting.
  • Ask guiding questions that help students understand concepts rather than simply giving them answers.
  • Help students build mathematics skills, confidence, critical thinking, and positive learning habits.
  • Monitor student engagement and adjust your approach with support from center leadership.
  • Complete clear and accurate student notes at the end of each session.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and teammates.
  • Provide occasional online instruction using center-provided systems and materials.
  • Maintain appropriate student supervision and immediately report safety or behavioral concerns.
  • Help keep instructional areas clean, organized, stocked, and “Ready for the Next Student.”
  • Participate in required training, coaching, and continuous professional development.

  • Strong mathematics proficiency and the ability to successfully complete an untimed, job-related mathematics assessment
  • Ability to explain mathematical ideas clearly and patiently
  • Confident and professional communication with children, teenagers, parents, and coworkers
  • Reliability and the ability to maintain a consistent weekly schedule
  • Positive attitude and willingness to receive and apply coaching
  • Ability to manage multiple students and priorities in an active learning environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn Mathnasium’s educational systems
  • Ability to follow student-safety, confidentiality, and professional-conduct standards
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Algebra II or a more advanced mathematics course
  • Current high school, college, or graduate-level coursework involving mathematics, education, science, engineering, business, or a related subject

  • Meaningful work helping students build skills and confidence
  • Paid training in the Mathnasium Method and instructional practices
  • All necessary curriculum and instructional materials
  • A positive, supportive, and team-oriented work environment
  • Stable part-time scheduling based on student enrollment, employee availability, and center needs
  • Professional development in instruction, communication, leadership, and problem-solving
