Part-Time Mechanic's Assistant

Job Title: Part-Time Mechanic’s Assistant (Mornings)

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday
• 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (about 30 hours per week)

This role is a great fit for someone who is mechanically inclined and looking for steady part-time morning work (including retirees or semi-retired tradespeople).

About Us

Time Trucking Inc. is a locally owned expedited trucking company based in Hartford, WI. We operate a small fleet of trucks and vans and we’re looking for a reliable Mechanic’s Assistant to support our primary mechanic with preventative maintenance, basic repairs, and general shop/property upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Assist the primary mechanic with:
• Oil changes, fluid checks, and other routine preventative maintenance
• Basic repairs on box trucks, semi tractors, and vans (brakes, lights, tires, etc., as trained)
• Vehicle inspections and documentation of work performed
• Move vehicles in and out of the shop and perform short test drives as directed
• Help keep the shop clean, safe, and organized (sweeping, trash, organizing tools and parts)
• Assist with property maintenance, which may include:
• Lawn care and light outdoor work
• Snow and ice cleanup around entrances and shop areas
• Simple building maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, minor repairs, etc.)
• Pick up parts or supplies from local vendors as needed
• Follow all company safety procedures and report any equipment or safety issues promptly

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable using basic hand tools
• Ability to:
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Work on your feet for most of the shift
• Work in a shop environment and occasionally outdoors in varying weather
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions and safety instructions
• Willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks
• Previous experience in automotive or truck repair, farm equipment, small engines, or similar work is preferred but not strictly required
