Part-Time Night Lead EMT Instructor

Job type: Part-time, 32 hours a week

About the position
Aparicio-Levy Technical College, part of Hillsborough County Public Schools, is hiring a part-time Lead EMT Instructor for the night class of its state-approved Emergency Medical Technician program. The Night Lead EMT Instructor runs evening classroom and lab instruction, guides students through hospital clinical and field ride-along rotations, and prepares them for the National Registry EMT exam and Florida EMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver EMT lectures and hands-on skills labs for the night class, following the Florida Department of Education curriculum framework and the National EMS Education Standards
• Lead and coordinate adjunct instructors during night class and skills sessions
• Evaluate student skills and complete psychomotor sign-offs and practical exams
• Track attendance, grades, and skills completion in the program's student management system
• Monitor night students' progress through hospital clinical and field ride-along rotations
• Keep the student-to-instructor and student-to-equipment ratios required by Florida rule
• Take part in program meetings and state program reviews
• Maintain lab equipment and supplies in good working order

Qualifications

• Current Florida Paramedic certification in good standing with the Florida Department of Health
• At least four years of field provider experience
• Completion of Level A and Level B EMS instructor coursework (National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors), or eligibility for an exemption under Florida Administrative Code 64J-1.0201
• Associate degree or higher
• At least two years of EMS teaching experience
• Current BLS Instructor certification
• Eligible for a Florida educator certificate through Hillsborough County Public Schools

Preferred

• Experience as a lead or primary instructor in an EMT program
• National Registry Paramedic certification
• Experience with online grading or student management systems

Schedule

• Evening classes Monday - Thursday
• 32 hours a week
