Part-Time Optical Assistant

Are you approachable, organised, and eager to learn a rewarding new skill? We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Optical Assistant to join our reputable practice.

In this role, you’ll work alongside our close-knit team of Optometrists and Optical Assistants to deliver exceptional care to our clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable healthcare and technical experience in a supportive, friendly environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide exceptional customer service, guiding patients through their eye care journey and making them feel welcome.
• Pre-Screening: Perform initial checks prior to a client’s sight test using our modern pre-test optical equipment.
• Frame Styling & Repairs: Assist clients with frame selection, fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs.
• Lab Work (Training Provided): Learn the ins and outs of our optical laboratory, assisting with lens edging, assembly, and quality control.
• Administration: Manage patient records accurately and efficiently, and support the team with monthly stock takes.
• Practice Care: Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for our patients.
• Flexibility: Willingness to occasionally cover at our other local branches in Pontefract and Wakefield when required.

What We Are Looking For

• No optical experience? No problem! We provide full training for the right candidate.
• Previous experience in customer service, retail, administration, or a healthcare setting is a plus, but not mandatory.
• A friendly, approachable demeanour with excellent communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.
• A positive attitude and a genuine willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to help cover at our Castleford store when needed, and our Wakefield store on occasion.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
