What they need
About Little Fireflies Pediatric Therapy
Little Fireflies Pediatric Therapy is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to making high-quality, neurodivergent-affirming pediatric therapy more accessible to children and families in Taylor and the surrounding East Williamson County area.
We believe every child deserves to be understood, supported, and given the opportunity to communicate in ways that work for them. Our approach combines evidence-based clinical practices with respect for each child's individuality, strengths, communication style, and developmental needs.
As a small, growing clinic, we offer something different from larger healthcare organizations: a collaborative environment where clinicians are valued, leadership is accessible, and your ideas can directly shape the services we provide.
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled Part-Time Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This is an opportunity to provide meaningful clinical care while helping a growing nonprofit expand access to pediatric speech therapy in our local community.
Why Join Little Fireflies?
A Neurodivergent-Affirming Workplace
Work in an environment that respects neurodiversity and prioritizes functional communication, individualized support, and each child's dignity. We value clinicians who recognize that communication looks different for every child and who approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and respect.
Flexibility That Works for You
We anticipate a schedule of approximately 2–3 days per week, with scheduling coordinated around your availability and the needs of our clients. We understand that clinicians have lives and commitments outside of work, and we want to build a schedule that works for both you and the families we serve.
A Small Clinic Where Your Contributions Matter
You won't be just another clinician in a large organization. You'll have direct access to leadership, opportunities to share ideas, and the ability to help shape clinical programming as our services grow.
A Manageable Caseload and Paid Documentation Time
We value quality over quantity. Our goal is to maintain a manageable caseload that allows you to provide thoughtful, individualized care. Required clinical documentation time is compensated, so you aren't expected to complete necessary paperwork on your own time without pay.
Opportunities for Professional Growth
Interested in supervising a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)? We would welcome a conversation about incorporating supervision into your role. This is an opportunity, not a requirement, and we are interested in learning about your professional goals.
Room to Grow
This position is initially part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time role if that is something you desire and clinic needs and growth allow.
Meaningful Local Impact
Your work will directly support children and families in Taylor and surrounding communities, where access to pediatric therapy can be limited. You'll be part of a mission-driven organization working to make quality services more accessible to the families who need them.
Compensation and Scheduling
- Compensation: $50–$55 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Employment classification: 1099 independent contractor.
- Schedule: Approximately 2–3 days per week, coordinated around your availability and client needs.
- Work setting: In-person pediatric outpatient clinic in Taylor, Texas.
- Documentation: Required clinical documentation time is paid.
- Cancellations: Sessions canceled 24 hours or more before the scheduled appointment are not compensated. Sessions canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time are compensated.
- SLPA supervision: Potential opportunity for additional clinical responsibility if interested and appropriately qualified.
- Future growth: Potential to expand hours, including into a full-time role, as clinic needs and growth allow.
We aim to be transparent about expectations and compensation so you can make an informed decision about whether this opportunity is the right fit.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric speech and language evaluations to identify communication strengths, needs, and appropriate treatment goals.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that support each child's functional communication and participation.
- Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate therapy for children with a range of communication needs, including speech sound disorders, language delays, and communication differences associated with autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Use child-centered, play-based approaches when clinically appropriate, respecting each child's interests, sensory needs, communication preferences, and autonomy.
- Incorporate appropriate communication supports, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), when indicated by the child's needs and clinical plan.
- Monitor progress, update treatment plans, and maintain accurate clinical documentation within the clinic's electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to support communication development and help families carry over appropriate strategies into everyday routines.
- Communicate and collaborate with other providers as appropriate to support coordinated, individualized care.
- Participate in clinical discussions and contribute ideas to the continued development of Little Fireflies' programs and services.
- If interested and appropriately qualified, potentially provide clinical supervision to an SLPA in accordance with applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an appropriately accredited program.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
- Pediatric clinical experience preferred.
- Experience working with children with developmental delays, autism, speech and language disorders, or other communication needs.
- Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and intervention practices in pediatric speech-language pathology.
- A commitment to neurodivergent-affirming, family-centered, and individualized care.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.
- A collaborative mindset and interest in contributing to a growing pediatric therapy program.
We welcome applicants who bring a variety of clinical experiences and perspectives, provided they share our commitment to respectful, individualized, evidence-based care.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
This position may be an excellent fit for an SLP who:
- Enjoys working with children and their families in an outpatient clinical setting.
- Values neurodivergent-affirming practices and individualized treatment.
- Wants greater flexibility than a traditional full-time position may offer.

- Wants to contribute to a growing organization with a meaningful community mission.
- Is interested in helping expand access to pediatric therapy in Taylor and surrounding communities.
