Job Description

New York City College of Technology (City Tech), CUNY’s Continuing Education program, is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician Certification Instructor to teach an in-person Pharmacy Technician training course in the Bronx, NY.

We are seeking an engaging instructor who can connect with learners from diverse backgrounds and prepare students with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to pursue careers as pharmacy technicians and prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification exam.

This is a part-time Continuing Education Teacher (CET) position with an immediate need.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, practical instruction in pharmacy technician concepts and skills
• Prepare students for the PTCB certification exam and employment in pharmacy settings
• Teach students with varying levels of prior knowledge and experience
• Provide mentorship and career guidance to students entering the pharmacy technician field
• Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practices, industry standards, and certification requirements
• Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet student learning needs
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous program improvement

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate degree in a health-related field
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant pharmacy/pharmacy technician experience
• PTCB certification
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy practices and current industry certification standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to effectively teach and support students from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
• Experience working in a chain or community pharmacy setting
• Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience
• Experience teaching in adult, continuing education, workforce development, or urban educational settings
• Experience with both in-person and online instruction

Schedule & Location

Schedule: Fridays, 8:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. (3 hours per week)
Initial Appointment: Approximately 16–25 weeks
Location: Bronx, NY
Work Arrangement: In person
Job Type: Part-time

Compensation

$45–$60 per hour, based on education, professional experience, and credentials.
