Part-Time Sales Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, knowledgeable, and highly motivated Part-Time Retail Sales Assistant to join our team. This is a specialised role that requires not only a unique blend of proven retail sales experience for our ranges of R.M.Williams clothing, boots and our new western boot and hat room but also a strong, genuine equestrian background. Training will be given on our footwear and clothing lines. Our customers rely on us for expert advice on riding gear, and technical equipment. Therefore, you must be able to confidently speak the language of horse owners and riders from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional, knowledgeable service to our community of riders and handlers
• Use your personal equestrian experience to advise customers on product selection, sizing, and proper use (e.g., rugs, tack, feed, apparel)
• Actively engage with customers and build long-term customer loyalty
• Maintain high merchandising standards, keep shelves stocked, process deliveries, and ensure the shop floor remains clean and inviting
• Efficiently handle cash and card transactions, manage returns, and operate the till system accurately

About you

• A minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail environment is strictly required
• Personal or professional experience with horses (riding, stable management, ownership, or equine studies) is essential
• Must know the difference between disciplines, tack types, and basic equine care
• Must be able to work a minimum of 14 hours per week, which will include alternate Saturdays
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build quick rapport with customers
• A mature, self-motivated attitude with strong time-management skills
