Official Position Title: Student Transportation Operator

A growing youth and student transportation company in Washington, DC is hiring dependable and professional Student Transportation Operators to safely transport students to and from school and approved locations.

This position is best suited for someone who is reliable, safety-focused, comfortable working with children and families, and able to follow detailed transportation schedules and procedures.

Shift Types

Applicants may be considered for one or more of the following:

• Morning Shift: School drop-off routes
• Afternoon Shift: School pickup and drop-off routes
• Split Shift: Morning and afternoon routes
• Route Coverage: Substitute or additional route coverage as needed

Shift availability depends on assigned student routes and operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and approved locations
• Follow assigned pickup and drop-off schedules
• Arrive on time for all assigned routes
• Follow route instructions and transportation procedures
• Provide required route and arrival updates
• Maintain professional communication with families and the operations team
• Report delays, route concerns, incidents, or safety issues immediately
• Maintain a clean and safe transportation environment
• Complete required route documentation and mileage logs
• Follow all company safety and operating procedures

Vehicle Requirements

• Reliable personal vehicle required
• Must be willing to use personal vehicle for assigned student transportation routes
• Vehicle must be properly registered and insured
• Vehicle must be clean, safe, and in good operating condition
• Must maintain required vehicle and insurance documentation throughout employment

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Safe driving history
• Dependable attendance and strong punctuality
• Comfortable working with children and families
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to follow detailed schedules and instructions
• Ability to work independently
• Must successfully complete required background and driving-record screenings
• Previous experience in student transportation, childcare, schools, youth programs, transportation, or similar work is preferred

Compensation

• $20.00–$25.00 per hour
• Paid weekly
• Mileage reimbursement for approved business miles
• Mileage reimbursement is paid separately from regular wages and is tax free
• Opportunity for additional hours as new routes become available
