Part-Time Transportation Driver

Overview

The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable transportation services for residents of Heartland House, a men’s residential treatment facility. The role includes maintaining the readiness of agency vehicles and supporting daily operations through coordination with staff and clients.

Line of Supervision

This position reports directly to the Program Manager for transportation-related duties and to the Executive Director for overall performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Possess a valid, clean California driver’s license
• Be eligible for coverage under Heartland House vehicle insurance policy
• Demonstrated safe driving record with no violations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ensure the safe and timely transport of passengers or goods to designated locations.
• Professional demeanor and ability to represent Heartland House positively to external entities
• Comfortable working with a diverse adult male population in a treatment setting
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word) and willingness to learn LMS (Learning Management System) software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure all Heartland House vehicles are in safe working condition and compliant with registration and insurance requirements
• Notify the Executive Director at least 60 days prior to vehicle registration or insurance renewal deadlines
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections
• Assist with heavy lifting as needed when loading or unloading items from the vehicle.
• Maintain weekly mileage logs, verified and signed, for all vehicle usage
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and safety regulations
• Document any incidents or maintenance needs accurately.
• Collaborate with staff and clients to meet the transportation needs of the facility
• Support the operational needs of a 24-hour residential program

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Hours: Part-time; approximately 20-30 hours per week
• Schedule: Afternoon to evening shift on weekdays, morning to afternoon shift on weekends. Wednesday - Saturday Shift. Start time TBD
• Note: Start times are flexible and may vary daily based on client needs of scheduled events, appointments, and meetings.
• Compensation: $20 per hour; includes paid vacation and sick leave benefits
