Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sumner – Puyallup Area is looking for a dependable and hands-on Part-Time Weekend Maintenance Engineer to join our team.

This position is responsible for helping keep our hotel, guest rooms, equipment, and grounds in excellent condition while responding to maintenance needs that arise during the weekend. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently, and understands that the condition of the property has a direct impact on our guests' experience.

Schedule

• Saturday and Sunday
• Approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Part-time weekend position
• Additional hours may occasionally be available depending on hotel needs

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest room and hotel maintenance requests in a timely manner
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, and general repairs
• Troubleshoot issues with guest room equipment, fixtures, TVs, toilets, sinks, showers, HVAC units, and other hotel equipment
• Complete preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas
• Repair and touch up guest room doors, walls, trim, fixtures, and other areas as needed
• Assist with maintaining the pool and spa area, including basic inspections and upkeep
• Keep mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, maintenance areas, and storage rooms clean and organized
• Inspect the property for maintenance or safety concerns and address issues when possible
• Help maintain the exterior of the property, including sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and grounds
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, hardware, and other items as needed
• Complete assigned maintenance projects and document completed work
• Communicate any larger repairs, parts needed, or unresolved concerns to hotel management and the Chief Engineer
• Respond professionally and courteously when maintenance work requires interaction with hotel guests
• Follow hotel safety procedures and brand standards

What We're Looking For

• Previous maintenance, handyman, facilities, apartment maintenance, hotel maintenance, construction, or similar experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and general repairs
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine an appropriate solution
• Comfortable using hand tools and basic power tools
• Able to work independently and manage priorities without constant supervision
• Dependable and able to consistently work the weekend schedule
• Good communication and organization skills
• Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, well-kept property
• Ability to safely lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and perform other physical tasks required for maintenance work
• Must be comfortable working throughout guest rooms, public areas, mechanical spaces, and exterior areas of the hotel
