Part-Time Yard Associate

Job Overview:
The Part-Time Yard / Hardware Store Associate plays a key role in supporting daily operations both in the yard and inside the store. This position focuses on assisting customers, handling materials, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and supporting overall store and facility upkeep. The associate will work closely with customers and team members to ensure a safe, efficient, and friendly shopping experience.

This role is hands-on and physically active, involving lifting, loading, unloading, restocking, and general maintenance tasks. Hours will vary based on seasonal demand and business needs, with weekend availability required. Training is provided for equipment operation, including forklifts.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and willing to learn about hardware products, building materials, and store operations. Prior experience in retail, yard work, or hardware is helpful but not required.

This is an at-will, part-time position, with work hours adjusted as business conditions change.

Duties

• Assist customers with finding products and answering questions
• Load and unload materials in the yard, including lumber, concrete, and other heavy items
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the yard and store
• Operate forklifts and other equipment (training provided)
• Restock shelves and ensure proper inventory levels
• Cleaning yard & shop facilities
• Spraying weeds
• Maintenance facilities & equipment
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions
• Friendly and helpful attitude with strong customer service skills
• Willingness to learn about hardware products and building materials
• Basic math and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience in retail, hardware, or yard work is a plus but not required
