What they need
Automotive Parts Sales Advisor
Role Purpose
We are looking for a proactive, confident and commercially minded Automotive Parts Sales Advisor to join our team here at Part Tech Limited (Part of the Reclamet Group).
We are looking for someone who enjoys speaking to customers, solving problems and turning enquiries into sales. You will be responsible for helping customers identify the parts they need, presenting suitable options and confidently guiding them through the buying process.
Our customers will have varying levels of automotive knowledge. Some will know exactly what they need, while others may only be able to describe the problem they are trying to solve.
Your job is to take the problem away from the customer and help them find the right solution.
The Role
You will handle enquiries through a variety of channels, including:
- Telephone
- Parts counter
- eBay and online platforms
- Website/digital enquiries
- Customer callbacks
- Trade and repeat customers
Every enquiry should be treated as a genuine sales opportunity.
You will be expected to take ownership of conversations, gather the information required, identify appropriate parts or alternatives and confidently ask for the order.
Where we don't currently have the required part available, your job isn't simply to say "we haven't got one".
You will look for alternatives, investigate compatible vehicles or components, record wanted parts and work with colleagues and Purchasing to identify potential solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
Provide a positive, professional and helpful experience for every customer.
Take control of customer conversations by asking the right questions and establishing exactly what the customer needs.
Present prices confidently and professionally without creating unnecessary objections.
Guide enquiries towards a clear outcome – whether that is a sale, quotation, callback, sourcing request or another agreed next step.
Proactively follow up outstanding enquiries and opportunities.
Look for alternative solutions when the customer's first choice is unavailable.
Work towards individual, departmental and daily sales targets.
Understand that every enquiry has a value and every conversation should have a purpose.
Automotive Parts
Help customers correctly identify the parts they require.
Use vehicle registration, VIN, part numbers, paint codes and other available information to establish compatibility.
Research interchangeable or compatible parts across different makes and models where appropriate.
Develop strong knowledge of passenger and commercial vehicle parts.
Clearly explain the condition and expectations surrounding pre-owned automotive parts.
Work closely with Purchasing when vehicles or parts need to be sourced.
You are not expected to know everything – but you are expected to know how to find the answer.
Customer Experience
Recognise that not every customer will have automotive knowledge.
Make customers feel comfortable asking questions and guide them through the process without making them feel that they should already know the answers.
Use positive language and focus on what can be done rather than immediately explaining what cannot.
Be assertive when necessary while remaining professional, patient and fair.
Take ownership of problems and ensure customers understand what happens next.
Quality & Accuracy
Ensure the correct part is being supplied before an order is completed.
Follow agreed quality assurance procedures before parts are packaged or dispatched.
Accurately record relevant photographs, part details and customer information where required.
Help reduce incorrect parts, unnecessary returns, refunds and customer disputes.
Communicate effectively with colleagues in Purchasing, Dispatch, Yard and other departments.
What We're Looking For
The right person will be naturally positive, proactive and solution-focused.
We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys speaking to people
- Is confident discussing money and presenting prices
- Has a natural sales and customer service mentality
- Takes ownership rather than passing problems elsewhere
- Can actively listen and ask good questions
- Is comfortable working towards sales targets
- Is organised and able to manage multiple enquiries
- Can follow processes accurately
- Is confident using computer systems and online research
- Works well as part of a team
- Communicates effectively between departments
- Is willing to learn
- Can remain calm when dealing with difficult customers
- Understands when to ask for help rather than guessing
Automotive Experience
Previous automotive parts experience would be highly beneficial, particularly within:
- Vehicle dismantling/recycling
- Motor factors
- Main dealer parts departments
- Independent garages
- Automotive salvage
- Bodyshops
- Commercial vehicle parts
- Online automotive parts sales
However, attitude and approach are just as important as existing knowledge.
Someone with strong sales and customer service experience combined with a genuine interest in vehicles could also be successful with the right training.
What Success Looks Like
Success isn't simply measured by how many enquiries you handle.
It is measured by what you do with those enquiries.
You will contribute towards:
- Increased sales conversion
- Departmental sales targets
- Daily sales performance
- Faster customer response times
- More effective follow-up
- Fewer missed opportunities
- Fewer incorrect parts and returns
- Better communication between departments
- Improved customer satisfaction
- More repeat and trade business
Most importantly, you will help create a department where customers feel that we are genuinely trying to solve their problem.
If this sounds like your kind of role and you have the skills listed above, then please submit your CV. We look forward to hearing from you !
