Pastry Cook

Job Summary

Nobu, the world-renowned Japanese restaurant, is seeking experienced pastry cooks for its Malibu location.

We are looking for a professional pastry cook to prepare food for the exact chef’s specifications and to set up stations for menu. Pastry cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

Responsibilities

• Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
• Production of varies pastry components (cakes, custards, sauces, garnishes,
• Produce menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
• Follow all health and safety standards and guidelines

Requirements

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a pastry cook or prep cook
• Excellent understanding of various pastry methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
• Must be able to lift or carry items up to 50lbs, push or pull, stand for long periods of time, sit, kneel, grasp, bend, stoop, reach for items, or conduct repetitive work.
• Professional demeanor and punctuality are essential.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
