Patent Engineer

About the role

Pintas Consulting Group Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Patent Engineer to join our engineering division. This is a full-time position based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. As a Patent Engineer, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical innovation and intellectual property protection. You will be responsible for evaluating, documenting, and protecting innovative technologies and processes, ensuring that our clients' intellectual property assets are properly secured and maximised. This position is strategically important to our business, as it directly supports our ability to deliver high-value consulting services to clients

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive prior art searches and patent landscape analyses for technologies and processes

• Prepare and draft patent applications, including detailed technical specifications, claims, and supporting documentation in compliance with patent office requirements

• Work with inventors and internal technical teams to understand complex innovations and translate them into clear, patentable inventions

• Respond to office actions and support prosecution of applications.

• Review and analyse patent specifications to identify infringement risks and freedom-to-operate concerns for clients

• Collaborate with legal counsel and external patent attorneys on patent matters and dispute resolution

What we're looking for

• Master’s degree or strong Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Chemical, Electronic, Electrical), Biochemistry, Physics, Law, or equivalent.

• Strong technical knowledge and strong interest in learning new technologies.

• Experience in patent drafting, prosecution, or intellectual property management (good to have)

• Familiarity with patent search tools and databases, such as USPTO, Google Patents, or Espacenet (good to have)

• Proficiency in technical writing and the ability to produce high-quality documentation

• Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying intellectual property opportunities
