Job Title: Pathologist Assistant

Work Location: Dallas County, Texas

Summary:

The Pathologist Assistant is responsible for the gross examination and dictation of tissue specimens, working independently under the supervision of a Pathologist. This role ensures accurate specimen processing, maintains laboratory safety, and adheres to regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Perform gross examination and dictation of all surgical tissue specimens under the direction of a Pathologist.
• Prepare and submit tissue samples for additional testing, including specialized studies as required.
• Maintain inventory and ensure the cutting room is properly supplied at all times.
• Photograph specimens as directed and document findings accurately.
• Review and stay updated on procedure manuals and implement procedural changes as needed.
• Participate in continuing education and training under the guidance of a Pathologist.
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive health information.
• Comply with all relevant compliance programs and policies, especially those impacting Pathologist Assistants.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree as a Pathologist Assistant required.
• ASCP or equivalent certification required.
• Completion of a formal Pathologist Assistant Training program required.
• Pathologist Assistant students nearing completion of their training program are encouraged to apply.
• Two years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant preferred.
• Commitment to maintaining continuing education for certification/licensure and expanding knowledge base.
