Patient Access Liaison

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Patient Access Liaison to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience from the moment of arrival through discharge. Your expertise will facilitate efficient patient intake, insurance verification, and coordination with clinical teams to optimize patient flow and satisfaction. Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and warmth, establishing a positive first impression.
• Verify patient insurance coverage, including health insurance knowledge, managed care details, and understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
• Collect and process patient information accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring data integrity for billing and clinical documentation.
• Coordinate with clinical staff on discharge planning, utilizing skills in social services, case management, and discharge procedures to facilitate smooth transitions of care.
• Assist with intake procedures for diverse patient populations, including those requiring social work or behavioral health support.
• Collaborate with billing departments to ensure proper coding such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding for accurate reimbursement.
• Manage patient inquiries related to hospital services, appointments, and insurance questions through effective client communication.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines while handling sensitive patient information across various hospital departments including ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), and trauma centers.

Requirements

• Prior experience in hospital settings or healthcare environments is highly preferred, especially within critical care, emergency medicine, or acute care units such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes, and utilization review/management practices.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for documentation and communication purposes.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds while demonstrating excellent client communication skills.
• Familiarity with social services referral processes and discharge planning procedures is desirable.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in intake processes and case management activities.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Pay: $25.11 - $30.24 per hour
