Job Summary

George Washington University Hospital is seeking a professional and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to support patients throughout the registration and admission process. This role provides front-office assistance while ensuring accurate patient information, insurance details, and appointment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide courteous assistance.
• Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Schedule and confirm appointments when needed.
• Process patient check-in and check-out procedures.
• Collect applicable copayments and other patient payments.
• Answer phone calls and direct patients to the appropriate departments.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
• Obtain required referrals, authorizations, and registration information.
• Coordinate with clinical and administrative departments.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow hospital policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous healthcare, patient registration, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Accurate data-entry and computer skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment.
