Job Description

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a patient-focused and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to support patient registration and front-desk operations. This role helps ensure patients receive a smooth and professional check-in experience while maintaining accurate registration information and supporting efficient hospital workflows.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors and provide professional assistance.
• Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Schedule appointments and update patient records as needed.
• Explain registration procedures and collect required documentation.
• Verify insurance eligibility and assist with routine billing or payment questions.
• Maintain accurate information in electronic health record and registration systems.
• Protect confidential patient information and follow applicable privacy policies.
• Coordinate with clinical and administrative departments to resolve registration issues.
• Respond to patient questions and direct complex concerns to the appropriate team.
• Follow hospital procedures and established patient access standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills and accurate data-entry abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
• Ability to work in a busy healthcare environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Previous experience in patient registration, healthcare administration, or customer service is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance verification is an advantage.
