Patient Account Representative

Position Summary:

This position specializes in patient registration and the optimal reimbursement of patient accounts including investigative research, collection duties, and basic account follow-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Registers and pre-registers patients according established procedures· Interviews patient or patient representative to obtain all required demographic, insurance and clinical information according to established procedures
• Verifies insurance eligibility and may complete pre certification or authorization processes· Obtain signatures on all required forms according to established procedures
• · Routes admitting documentation and forms to appropriate departments· Contacts physicians, physician offices, external hospitals, other healthcare agencies and other departments to obtain complete patient information as necessary
• Collect patient co-pays, deductibles and deposits prior to or at time of service as appropriate
• Billing and Follow-up on patient accounts for all insurance payers. Also add another bullet that says - Other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

High school diploma or GED is required

3 - 5 years in a customer service role with 1 year of that experience in a hospital billing and follow up experience

Certification/License/Registration: CPAR preferred

Basic computer and office equipment knowledge required.

Customer service oriented

Detailed and organized

Punctual and dependable

Ability to answer the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner

Knowledge of FDCPA and HIPPA guidelines/regulations preferred

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
