About the role

We are recruiting Patient Case Managers for an early-stage, venture-backed healthcare startup developing personalized cancer vaccines. You'll be a steady point of contact for patients and families facing difficult decisions, helping them move through a complex treatment journey with care, clarity and follow-through.

This role is for candidates already based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Expect about four office days a week at the start. There is no relocation support.

What you'll own

• Guide patients, families and physicians from first enquiry through eligibility review, treatment preparation, dosing and follow-up.

• Keep records, consent paperwork, appointments and case timelines moving without missed steps.

• Coordinate with clinics, pathology labs, sequencing partners and couriers on sample collection, shipping and results.

• Handle sensitive conversations about risks, costs, billing and financial assistance with compassion and discretion. Escalate clinical questions to the medical team.

• Build clear patient trackers and confidential records, and help shape the team's patient-management process.

What we're looking for

• Roughly 2-7 years in patient services, case management, care coordination, nurse navigation or clinical-trial patient support. Strong candidates with less experience will also be considered.

• Direct experience handling difficult conversations with patients, families or clients. This is not a purely back-office coordination role.

• A record of managing complex, time-sensitive logistics across multiple teams and outside partners.

• Clear communication, sound judgment and careful handling of confidential information.

• Ability to work hybrid in San Francisco and take occasional short work trips.

Nice to have

• Oncology knowledge or a nursing, medical or nurse-navigation background.

• Familiarity with HIPAA, Good Clinical Practice, specimen chain of custody or expanded-access programs.

• Experience with personalized or autologous therapies, patient CRM or case-management systems.

• Experience building patient-support processes from scratch.

Pay, visa and travel

• $100,000-$130,000 base salary, plus equity.

• Visa transfers and new visa sponsorship are open for consideration.

• Occasional short trips to support patient dosing, with work travel paid by the company.

• A founding-team role with room to grow into training and managing other case managers.
