About Keystone Sports Construction

Keystone Sports Construction is one of the fastest-growing sports field and athletic facility builders on the East Coast. We specialize in site development, heavy civil work, paving, drainage, and synthetic turf systems for schools, universities, municipalities, and professional sports organizations.

We are seeking an experienced Paving Superintendent to lead paving operations across our projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

About the Role

The Paving Superintendent will be responsible for leading the day-to-day field operations of Keystone's paving work, including paving crews, equipment, trucking, milling coordination, asphalt production and delivery, jobsite preparation, production planning, quality, safety, and labor.

We are looking for someone who understands the entire paving operation and knows what it takes to consistently put down a high-quality product while meeting production goals and protecting job profitability.

The ideal candidate has significant experience running paving crews and understands how people, equipment, trucking, milling, plant production, material, site conditions, and scheduling work together to create an efficient paving operation.

This position requires significant regional travel to active jobsites, with office time required periodically for planning, estimating, scheduling, and operational meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily paving field operations, including crews, equipment, trucking, milling, and subcontracted resources
  • Plan paving operations from mobilization and site preparation through final paving and cleanup
  • Coordinate asphalt plants, trucking, milling, equipment, and manpower to achieve daily production and tonnage goals
  • Ensure paving equipment is properly prepared, maintained, and ready for production
  • Oversee paving quality including grade, depth, yield, joints, compaction, smoothness, drainage, and finished product
  • Monitor production against estimated quantities, labor, equipment, trucking, material usage, and project budgets
  • Understand and manage key cost drivers including asphalt, trucking, milling, equipment utilization, labor, mobilization, and production rates
  • Work with Project Managers and estimators on production assumptions, crew rates, equipment requirements, trucking plans, and pricing
  • Lead, train, and hold paving foremen, operators, and laborers accountable for safety, productivity, equipment care, and workmanship
  • Coordinate with project management and sitework teams to ensure projects are properly prepared and ready for paving
  • Identify field issues early and make adjustments to protect schedule, quality, production, and profitability
  • Maintain strong communication with field personnel, Project Managers, clients, inspectors, suppliers, and company leadership

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

  • 7+ years of asphalt paving experience, with significant experience in a Superintendent, General Superintendent, Paving Foreman, or similar leadership role
  • Proven experience running and managing paving crews and coordinating daily field production
  • Strong knowledge of the complete asphalt paving process, including milling, base preparation, asphalt production, trucking, paving, rolling, compaction, and finishing
  • Strong understanding of paving equipment, equipment setup, maintenance needs, and proper operating practices
  • Demonstrated ability to plan trucking, asphalt delivery, equipment, and manpower around required daily production and tonnage goals
  • Strong understanding of paving costs, production rates, estimating assumptions, and pricing metrics
  • Ability to understand how labor, equipment, trucking, asphalt, milling, mobilization, and production rates impact job cost and profitability
  • Ability to read and understand project plans, specifications, grades, paving details, and project requirements
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold field crews accountable
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make effective decisions in fast-moving field environments
  • High level of organization, accountability, and ownership
  • Strong communication skills with field personnel, project management, vendors, clients, and company leadership
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Mid-Atlantic region

Preferred

  • Experience with athletic facilities, sports complexes, running tracks, tennis courts, or other precision paving applications
  • Experience paving projects requiring tight tolerances, complex grades, drainage requirements, or high-quality finished surfaces
  • Experience with both commercial/site paving and heavy civil paving operations
  • Experience working with asphalt plants, trucking companies, milling contractors, and material suppliers
  • Experience contributing to estimating, bidding, production forecasting, or job-cost analysis
