Payment Processing Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process and verify payments, invoices, and billing transactions using multiple financial software platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, and specialized billing systems.
• Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring timely collection and disbursement of funds.
• Reconcile accounts regularly through detailed analysis of Excel spreadsheets, accounting systems like PeopleSoft, and other financial software to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions through data entry, journal entries, and account analysis while adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding payment statuses, collections accounts, and billing inquiries via professional phone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Support compliance efforts related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting processes and assisting with internal audits.
• Assist in month-end closing activities by preparing reports, performing account reconciliation, and analyzing financial data for accuracy.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and revenue cycle management.
• Proficiency in financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with medical billing or governmental accounting is a plus.
• Strong skills in Excel data analysis using formulas, spreadsheets management, and Excel data entry techniques such as 10 key typing.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10 coding standards, and medical billing procedures is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with collections account management, negotiation skills for payment resolution, and account reconciliation processes.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high accuracy levels.
• Effective communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members alike; experience in client communication or telemarketing is advantageous.

Pay: $123.89 - $158.77 per hour
