Payment Processing Specialist

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payment Processing Specialist to join our finance team. Duties

• Process incoming payments and disbursements accurately using various financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, and specialized billing systems.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions to ensure consistency with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards.
• Manage collections accounts by following up on overdue payments, negotiating payment arrangements, and maintaining positive client relationships.
• Perform detailed account analysis using Excel data analysis tools and formulas to identify discrepancies or trends requiring attention.
• Maintain precise records of all transactions through data entry, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
• Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve billing issues promptly and professionally while ensuring excellent client communication.
• Support month-end closing activities by preparing reports, performing account reconciliation, and assisting with audit preparations in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on payment processing, accounts receivable, or accounts payable management.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel spreadsheets and formulas is essential.
• Familiarity with financial concepts like debits & credits, journal entries, revenue cycle management, and technical accounting practices.
• Experience working within regulatory frameworks such as SOX compliance and understanding of GAAP standards.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analysis skills for account reconciliation and data analysis tasks.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration; phone etiquette is important for professional customer service.
• Ability to perform high-volume data entry with accuracy using 10-key typing skills; experience with medical billing or governmental accounting is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage collections accounts efficiently while maintaining positive relationships through negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $30.10 - $35.10 per hour
