Payroll Accountant

Botanic is seeking a Payroll Accountant to manage accurate, timely payroll and support accounting and financial work across our restaurant, retail, greenhouse, and events operations. This role works closely with the finance lead and is well suited to someone who enjoys both recurring responsibilities and varied projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review payroll, including time records, tips, overtime, deductions, and employee changes.
• Help onboard new employees by leading orientation, completing new-hire paperwork, and serving as a point of contact during their first days.
• Post job openings, review applicant pool, coordinate interviews, and participate in candidate interviews in support of the hiring managers.
• Manage employee insurance deductions and well as any other employee benefits.
• Research payroll questions and correct discrepancies while protecting confidential employee information.
• Provide administrative support to the Director of Finance for HR tasks, including employee records, onboarding paperwork, and payroll-related changes.
• Assist with accounts payable, transaction entry, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Review data from operating systems and help record activity accurately in QuickBooks Online.
• Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, schedules, and financial reports; assist with budgets and special projects.
• Spot process gaps and help improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting workflows.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience processing payroll and performing accounting or bookkeeping work.
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Good judgment with sensitive financial and employee information.
• Ability to investigate differences, communicate clearly, and manage several priorities.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online is a plus.

Pay: $50000.00 - $55000.00 / year
