Payroll and Operations Head

The Payroll & Operations Head will be responsible for managing the complete payroll cycle, statutory compliance, employee data management, HR operations, and related administrative processes across SHM Shipcare Pvt. Ltd. The role requires ensuring accurate and timely salary processing, adherence to applicable labour laws, standardisation of HR processes across locations, and effective coordination with Finance, Business Heads, Branch HR SPOCs, and other internal stakeholders.

• Oversee HR operational activities, including employee onboarding, employee master creation, transfers, promotions, salary revisions, confirmation, and separation.
• Ensure that appointment letters, confirmation letters, salary revision letters, transfer letters, and separation documents are issued with appropriate approvals.
• Maintain accurate and updated employee records, personal files, attendance records, and payroll documentation.
• Establish standard operating procedures for payroll, attendance, leave administration, and employee documentation.
• Coordinate with HR SPOCs across branches to ensure consistency in HR processes and timely closure of operational issues.
• Monitor employee attendance, absenteeism, leave balances, and exceptions requiring management intervention.
• Ensure timely employee onboarding and exit formalities, including full-and-final settlement coordination.
• Support HR audits, internal controls, and documentation requirements.

Desired profile of the candidate

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
• MBA in HR/Finance, M.Com, or a relevant postgraduate qualification will be preferred.
• Certification in payroll management, labour laws, or statutory compliance will be an advantage.

Experience & Competencies

• Experience: 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in payroll, HR operations, and statutory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, applicable labour laws, and statutory requirements.
• Experience managing payroll for multiple locations or business units.
• Working knowledge of HRMS/ERP platforms, preferably Zing HR, Odoo, or similar systems.
• Strong Excel skills, payroll reconciliation, reporting, and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience coordinating with Finance, Accounts, auditors, statutory consultants, and branch-level teams.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, marine, shipbuilding or industrial sectors
• Multi-location and IPO readiness experience preferred.
