Payroll Assistant/ Clerk

About the role

This role involves managing payroll and administrative functions, including collecting and verifying employee timesheets, processing payroll data, and maintaining employee records.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets, clock-in logs, and overtime records
• Enter hours, bonuses, commissions, and leave data (sick or annual) into payroll software and timesheets
• Compute gross-to-net pay, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions
• Answer employee questions and fix payment errors or missing information
• Maintain updated employee files, tax forms, and leave records while keeping sensitive data secure
• Assist in preparing and organizing documents related to audits
• Provide day-to-day general administrative support as required

About you

• Minimum SPM / Diploma in HR, Business Admin or related field
• 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative work
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
• Familiarity with HR management systems or applicant tracking systems is desirable
