Payroll Coordinator

Our client is looking for a Payroll Coordinator to join their team. This is an onsite contract opportunity based in Santa Monica, CA. In this role, you'll support accurate and timely payroll processing for a large, multi-state, unionized workforce while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

This professional will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, payroll audits and reconciliations, tax compliance, payroll integrations, employee garnishments, reporting, and employee payroll support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with ADP Workforce Now, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Required Experience:

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now
• Experience processing multi-frequency payrolls from start to finish
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including multi-state payroll
• Experience auditing and reconciling payroll and HR data to ensure accuracy
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills
• Understanding of payroll compliance, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work effectively under pressure
• Strong customer service mindset and ability to resolve employee payroll inquiries
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working in a large company environment
• Experience supporting union payroll populations
• Basic knowledge of payroll accounting and SOX compliance
• Experience reconciling payroll integrations and bank files
• Experience administering employee garnishments and other payroll deductions
• Entertainment, media, or related industry experience
• Experience generating payroll reports and supporting ad hoc reporting requests
• Proven ability to identify process improvements and support special projects
