What they need
Miller Environmental Is Hiring: Payroll Coordinator
Miller Environmental, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned specialty construction company serving California and Nevada. We specialize in demolition, hazardous material abatement, and environmental remediation: high-consequence, highly regulated work where accuracy matters. Every week, our field crews and office staff count on payroll being right. This role makes sure it is.
Why This Role Matters
Payroll here is not just data entry. Prevailing wage rates, union agreements, and California labor law leave no room for "close enough." If you are the person who notices when a number is off, double-checks before you submit, and takes pride in a clean, reliable weekly process, you will feel at home here.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Verify timecards for accuracy and for compliance with California labor law and local union agreements
- Process weekly payroll in-house, including prevailing wage payroll
- Prepare and submit accurate weekly Certified Payroll Reports
- Collect and follow up on field timecards so payroll stays on schedule
- Answer payroll questions from field and office employees clearly and correctly
- Maintain payroll reports, spreadsheets, and records so they are current and audit-ready
- Additional duties as needed
What Success Looks Like
- Payroll goes out on time and correct, week after week
- Certified Payroll Reports are complete and compliant on the first submission
- Errors are caught before they reach an employee's paycheck
- Your process is consistent, documented, and something the team can rely on
Qualifications
- Payroll processing experience (required)
- Certified Payroll or prevailing wage experience (strongly preferred)
- Construction industry experience (a plus)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting it right the first time
- Comfort with a recurring weekly cycle and established procedures
- Ability to work independently with focus, and to communicate clearly when questions come up
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- High school diploma or equivalent
Why Miller Environmental
