We are a growing and professional accountancy practice providing bookkeeping, payroll and accountancy services to a varied portfolio of clients.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and reliable Payroll Processor / Payroll Administrator to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys payroll, is highly organised and takes pride in providing an accurate and professional service to clients.

The Role

You will be responsible for processing payrolls for a portfolio of clients, ensuring that payroll is completed accurately and on time and that all relevant HMRC and pension requirements are met.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau and be comfortable managing payrolls for multiple clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls
• Processing payroll using BrightPay, Xero Payroll and Sage 50 Payroll
• Calculating PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and deductions
• Processing new starters and leavers
• Producing payslips and payroll reports
• Submitting RTI returns to HMRC
• Processing workplace pension submissions
• Dealing with auto-enrolment requirements
• Processing statutory payments including SSP and SMP where applicable
• Assisting with payroll year-end procedures and P60s
• Responding to client payroll queries in a professional and timely manner
• Keeping client payroll records accurate and up to date
• Meeting payroll deadlines and managing multiple payrolls efficiently
• Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
• Liaising with clients and colleagues as required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in payroll processing
• Confident using BrightPay
• Experienced with Xero Payroll and/or Sage 50 Payroll desired
• Ideally experienced within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple deadlines
• Accurate and detail-focused
• Confident communicating with clients
• Able to work independently and use initiative
• Reliable and professional
• Comfortable working with confidential information
• Able to work as part of a small, friendly team

Essential Experience

• Previous payroll processing experience
• Good understanding of PAYE and National Insurance
• Experience submitting RTI to HMRC
• Understanding of workplace pensions and auto-enrolment
• Good attention to detail
• Experience using payroll software

BrightPay experience is highly desirable. Experience with Xero Payroll and Sage 50 Payroll would be an advantage.
