Payroll Manager

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations with precision and integrity. Duties

• Manage and oversee the entire payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and verification of employee hours, wages, bonuses, deductions, and benefits administration
• Ensure compliance with employment law, tax regulations, and labor law requirements related to payroll processing and reporting
• Maintain and support payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other HRIS platforms
• Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting practices and ensure accuracy in journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliation
• Prepare detailed reports on payroll expenses, tax filings, benefit deductions, and labor costs for internal stakeholders and external agencies
• Collaborate with human resources to ensure proper handling of confidential employee information while adhering to data security protocols
• Stay current on updates in tax law affecting payroll taxes and labor regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
• Support audits related to payroll processing and financial reporting by providing necessary documentation and analysis skills
• Lead efforts in process improvement by utilizing spreadsheets and financial software to streamline payroll workflows

Requirements

• Proven experience managing payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos or UltiPro; familiarity with Ceridian is a plus
• Strong understanding of employment & labor law as well as payroll tax regulations at federal, state, and local levels
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, debits & credits
• Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), financial analysis tools, accounting software (QuickBooks preferred), and HRIS platforms
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Experience with benefits administration processes within a payroll context
• Ability to perform detailed data entry accurately using 10 key typing skills; attention to detail is essential
• Strong analytical skills combined with excellent organizational abilities in a fast-paced environment
• Background in corporate or non-profit accounting with familiarity in governmental accounting or time & attendance systems is advantageous

Pay: $66,730.59 - $80,363.73 per year
