Duties

• Manage and oversee the entire payroll cycle, including data entry, processing, and distribution of employee wages and benefits using systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, or UltiPro.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws related to payroll processing, tax law, and labor regulations.
• Reconcile payroll accounts regularly through general ledger accounting practices, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, employee data updates, tax filings, and audit documentation while handling confidential information securely.
• Collaborate with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and other HR systems to update employee records related to compensation changes, benefits enrollment, and time & attendance data from Kronos or similar systems.
• Prepare detailed reports on payroll expenses, tax liabilities, deductions, and other financial data for management review.
• Support the resolution of payroll discrepancies by analyzing data within spreadsheets and financial software such as QuickBooks or other accounting tools.

Experience

• Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment with a strong understanding of payroll processing procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll systems including Workday, ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft or Ceridian is highly desirable.
• Solid background in accounting principles such as general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, debits & credits, and financial analysis skills.
• Familiarity with employment & labor law compliance requirements related to payroll taxation and employee rights.
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while managing multiple priorities efficiently.
• Experience working with spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting purposes is essential; proficiency in financial software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of tax law as it pertains to payroll taxes and reporting obligations across different jurisdictions.
