Payroll Officer

TSS is recruiting an experienced Payroll Officer for an established WA mining company.

Based in Perth, you will take day-to-day ownership of payroll for approximately 350 direct employees, working across multiple pay cycles, allowances and employment conditions using Access Definitiv.

This is a standalone payroll position, although you'll have support and leave coverage from HR and Finance team members who are also trained in payroll.

An immediate start is available.

The Role

You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time and that payroll information is correctly maintained within Access Definitiv.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating payroll across multiple pay cycles and employment arrangements
• Managing allowances, timesheets, leave, deductions, new starters, employee changes and terminations
• Reviewing payroll information and resolving discrepancies prior to finalisation
• Responding directly to employee payroll queries
• Working with the outsourced payroll provider and managing payroll inputs and outputs
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting reconciliations, reporting and compliance

About You

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Officer who is comfortable taking ownership of a payroll function and understands the importance of getting people paid correctly and on time.

You'll ideally bring:

• Previous experience managing payroll for a medium to large workforce
• Experience working across multiple pay cycles, allowances and differing employment conditions
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll requirements
• Experience interpreting awards, enterprise agreements or other employment instruments
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Confidence dealing directly with employees and resolving payroll queries
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with HR and Finance
• Access Definitiv experience would be highly regarded

Mining experience is advantageous but isn't essential. Experience working within a complex payroll environment is more important.

What's on Offer

• $90,000–$95,000 + super for a permanent appointment
• Alternatively, $50–$55 per hour + super
• Perth-based position
